Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch event was held in the form of an unattended presentation for the first time and was broadcasted to the European market through live streaming on SsangYong’s official YouTube global page (www.youtube.com/ssangyongglobal).

The event was held in the form of a talk show, hosted by Andrew S. Millard, a professor of the Busan University of Foreign Studies, with car columnist Soon-ha Hwang, CEO of Global Automotive Management Research Institute, and the youngest female car racer Doo-yeon Lim as panels. The event was composed of Tivoli G1.2T introduction, online test-drive video, European distributor representatives’ video message including sales plan, Q&A with CEO of SsangYong, and celebration performance by a K-POP star, Stray Kids.

Equipped with SsangYong's first 1.2-liter gasoline turbo engine which is mated with 6-speed manual transmission, Tivoli G1.2T model has a maximum output of 128ps/5000rpm and a maximum torque of 230Nm/1750~3500rpm, and it features sporty, stable and high-level driving performance. It satisfies Euro 6d step 2 exhaust emission regulations, and its improved fuel efficiency reduces carbon dioxide emissions. It also has advanced performance and safety features, providing economic competitiveness.

CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, Byung-Tae Yea said, “To actively respond to the European market demands of the downsized gasoline engine models, we have newly added Tivoli gasoline 1.2 liter turbo engine model to further strengthen Tivoli’s lineup, following the launch of Tivoli gasoline 1.5 liter turbo engine model and the 1.6 liter diesel engine model.” And he added, “The global automotive market including the European market has been greatly impacted due to COVID-19, but we are trying our best to recover European exports during the second half of this year, through strengthened product lineup, various non-contact, and online marketing strategies.”
