SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Johng-sik Choi; www.kg-mobility.com/en) will reinforce its sales network in Saudi Arabia and strengthen its presence in the Middle Eastern market.
The launch ceremony was held at the showroom located in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia on May 15, 2017, joined by about 100 people including SsangYong Motor representatives, Abdullah Saleh Al Bazie Automotive representatives, the Korean Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) Riyadh local office representatives, and local journalists.
In an aim to expand global sales volume and secure emerging markets, SsangYong has worked on restructuring its sales network in the Saudi Arabian market since 2014. At the beginning of this year, SsangYong signed on a distributor agreement with Abdullah Saleh Al Bajai Automotive, and models including Tivoli, XLV, and Korando are launched to go on sales now in Saudi Arabia.
With a launch ceremony, various marketing activities to attract customers are expected including marketing promotions such as test drive event and shopping mall display as well as network increase.
Meanwhile, SsangYong signed on a license agreement with SNAM (Saudi National Automobiles Manufacturing Co.) last February for the local production of a premium SsangYong pick-up model (code-named Q200) in Saudi Arabia from 2020 with the view to firmly establish the brand and boost growth drive in the middle-east market.
CEO of SsangYong Motor Johng-sik Choi commented “Recently, Korea and Saudi Arabia have been actively discussing mutual economic cooperation, which we believe will be also benefitting a automotive sector as well," and added “Having competitive models such as Tivoli and Rexton, we will continue to develop new markets and expand sales volume so that we will solidify our position as a global SUV expert not only in the Middle Eastern market but also in the global market."
