SsangYong Motor Global Sales Record 14,167 units in June 2016

▪ Tivoli sells over 8,000 units for the first time since its launch, breaking record in two months

▪ Sales jump 14.5% YoY, showing uptrend in domestic market for six consecutive months

▪ SsangYong to actively respond to changes in market trends and customer needs


Seoul, S. Korea, July 1, 2016: SsangYong Motor Company(CEO Choi Johng-sik; www.kg-mobility.com), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced that the company sold a total of 14,167 units in June 2016 – 9,750 units in domestic sales and 4,417 in exports including CKD kits.


The company achieved its highest-ever monthly sales in 2016, up 14.5% from a year earlier, helped by robust sales of Tivoli brand models - Tivoli and Tivoli Air (Export name: XLV).


The June sales of Tivoli brand models set a new monthly record of 8,065 units since its launch in January 2015. Its previous record was 7,788 units in April.


The Tivoli brand models passed the 100,000 mark in cumulative production on June 13, and its cumulative sales also surpassed 100,000 units in June with 104,445 units comprising of 72,990 units in domestic sales and 31,455 units in exports.


SsangYong’s domestic sales showed an upward trend for six consecutive months, up 15.8% compared to the same month last year thanks to the popularity of Tivoli brand models, which showed a rise of 57.3% YoY in sales.


The company’s exports had its best month ever as well with an increase of 11.8% over June 2015, exceeding 4,000 units for the third straight month in June.


SsangYong Motor pushes forward marketing activities to expand its global sales by holding launch events of Tivoli Air locally, and plans to launch in France followed by the U.K.


Choi Johng-sik, CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, commented, “The Tivoli brand models, which set monthly sales record in June, have been leading our overall sales momentum,” adding, “We will actively respond to changes in market trends as well as customer needs based on diversified lineup including the upcoming gasoline-powered Tivoli Air.”
