▪ Ssangyong maintains highest domestic growth rate of 36.6% YoY, exceeding 8,000 units for two consecutive months
▪ Cumulative sales of Tivoli surpassed 30,000 units, while its monthly contracts recorded over 8,000 boosted by newly added Tivoli diesel
▪ Ssangyong will increase its sales by flexibly responding to market demand, focusing on production increase based on stable labor and management relations
Ssangyong Motor (CEO Choi Johng-sik; www.kg-mobility.com), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced that the company sold a total of 11,814 units in July 2015 – 8,210 units in domestic sales and 3,604 in exports including CKD kit.
Ssangyong maintained the highest growth rate among the automakers in domestic sales with an increase of 36.6% year-on-year, exceeding 8,000 units for the second straight month boosted by the sales uptrend of the Tivoli.
The Tivoli, which has been receiving favorable responses from consumers, recorded its highest monthly sales of 4,011 units since its launch in January 2015. The Tivoli’s monthly contracts surpassed 8,000 in July thanks to the launch of the Tivoli diesel model in addition to the Tivoli gasoline.
Globally, the Tivoli sales recorded 33,003 units on a cumulative basis, exceeding 30,000 units in six months since its launch. The company has sold over 5,000 units of the Tivoli every month during the four consecutive months since April in the overseas market.
Even though Ssangyong’s exports in July dropped by 37.9% year-on-year due to priority supply to the domestic market, a recovery is expected soon since the company is strengthening the Tivoli’s global launches in the strategic markets including Europe.
Currently, Ssangyong is narrowing the sales gap between 2014 and 2015 thanks to the continuous sales uptrend in the domestic market. Even though its cumulative sales are still lower compared to the same period last year, its decline rate are greatly improving to 5.2%.
Choi Johng-sik, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, commented, “The Tivoli has been sold over 30,000 units globally since its launch thanks to newly added Tivoli diesel, which is very well-received by consumers,” adding, “We will increase our global sales by responding to market demand flexibly based on stable labor-management relations with a strike-free wage agreement for six consecutive months.”
