Ssangyong Motor (CEO Choi Johng-sik; ww.smotor.com), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced that the company sold a total of 12,870 units in March 2015 – 7,719 units in domestic sales and 5,151 in exports.

Ssangyong’s monthly global sales recovered to the 12,000 level in three months since December 2014 (12,980 units) helped by the sales uptrend in the domestic market after the launch of the Tivoli, up 32.4% from the previous month.

In the domestic market, its sales exceeded 7,000 vehicles, which was the best monthly sales since last December (8,261 units).

The Tivoli delivered 2,827 vehicles to customers in March, following 2,312 and 2,898 vehicles in January and February respectively. It showed a small decline compared to the previous month due to exports priority, but still led the sales momentum showing continuous robust sales.

Ssangyong’s exports in March jumped by 63.4% to 5,151 vehicles from a month ago, exceeding 5,000 in five months since last October (6,143 units) in line with the start of the Tivoli shipments to overseas market in earnest.

The Tivoli, which just entered the global market with the shipments of 1,771 units in March, is exported to the European and Central & Southern American markets including Belgium, the UK, Spain, and Chile, and will be sold overseas from June.

Ssangyong Motor plans to export 25,000 units of the Tivoli by the end of this year, and will expand its global sales through aggressive marketing activities, the diversification of overseas markets and entrance to the emerging markets

Choi Johng-sik, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, commented, “Our monthly sales recovered to the 12,000 units level again thanks to the Tivoli exports as well as the domestic sales uptrend,” adding, “We will further expand global sales by actively responding to the growing SUV market based on the export and overseas launching events of the Tivoli.
