▪ Ssangyong to display vehicles in Mahindra exhibition room in hopes of creating synergy effects, expanding global sales
▪ Four models introduced including two concept cars, XIV-1 and Korando E, as well as Rexton and Actyon Sports
▪ Enhanced brand awareness will be expected for Ssangyong to be be introduced in Indian media and public for the first time ahead of its entrance into the Indian market
Ssangyong Motor(President & CEO Lee Yoo-il; www.kg-mobility.com), part of the US$14.4 billion Mahindra Group, announced on Jan. 5, 2012 that it will participate in the 11th Auto Expo to be held in New Delhi, India in January together with Mahindra.
Ssangyong will utilize an exhibition from Mahindra at the Auto Expo, which will be staged at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from Jan. 5 to 11, opening to the general public on Jan. 7.
Ssangyong plans to introduce four models at the Auto Expo including two concept cars, as known as XIV-1, which was first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show and grabbed much attention for its innovative design and interface, and the Korando E (introduced as the KEV2 at the Seoul Motor Show), which is an electric vehicle developed based on the Korando, and two mass production models, the Rexton and Actyon Sports.
Johng-sik Choi, Vice President of sales and marketing, quoted, “The biennial 2012 Auto Expo in India is a representative Indian auto event. Ssangyong plans to take full advantage of its participation in this motor show to introduce the company to the Indian media and public for the first time ahead of its earnest entrance into India’s market, thereby laying a favorable foundation for growth in that country.”
Ssangyong plans to enter the Indian market starting from 2012 with models such as the Rexton and later the Korando C, and others through assembly route.
