▪ About 100 foreign dealers from 47 countries participated in the 2011 Global Distributor Conference held in September in Germany, having seven excellent sales distributor awarded

Ssangyong Motor Company, (President & CEO Lee Yoo-il; www.kg-mobility.com), part of the US$12.5 billion Mahindra Group, held the 2011 Global Distributor Conference in Frankfurt, Germany, from 12 to 13 September 2011 inviting about 100 foreign dealers from 47 countries.
The conference, held under the theme 『Win the Future, Ssangyong Motor』, had the largest number of participants ever who exchanged views on various cooperative efforts such as ways to advance into the global market including that of Western Europe. The event also celebrated the company’s new agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra.
Ssangyong Motor is marching aggressively into the European auto market, introducing the Korando model in Europe in September of last year. The automaker has made continuous efforts to improve its export networks in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, and has restarted exports to the United Kingdom.
Dr. Pawan Goenka, President of Mahindra’s Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, who participated in the conference, said that Ssangyong and Mahindra will actively cooperate to boost synergy effects.
Ssangyong also awarded sales distributors in seven countries worldwide for their excellent sales records, and extended compliments to foreign dealers who have been making efforts to expand sales in the international market. The automaker said that foreign dealers who visited Ssangyong’s showroom at the Frankfurt Motor Show paid much attention to its CUV concept car XIV-1, which is under development as the company’s strategic model for forays into the global auto market.
Meanwhile, a Russia received the “Best Distributor of the Year Award 2010” and a Chile received the “Distributor of the Year Award 2010.” Outstanding distributors in Brazil, Australia, Italy, and Spain among others were also recognized for their efforts.
Yoo-il Lee, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, said in his opening remarks at the conference that “through the PMI with Mahindra & Mahindra, Ssangyong has established a mid- to long-term development plan to create synergy effects in the areas of global strategy and product development,” adding, “the Frankfurt Motor Show will be remembered as giving momentum for Ssangyong to become a global brand.”
