Unionized workers of Ssangyong Motor, voted Tuesday, Sep.8 in favor of bolting from an umbrella union, the first such decision ever by workers within an automaker, after 73% percent of voters agreed to the move.
The withdrawal undermines the standing of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), considered the more militant of the two umbrella unions in the country, and is the first by any one of the country's three car makers.
