SsangYong Motor (CEO and President Hyung-Tak Choi;www.kg-mobility.com) announced on April 1 that it sold a total of 10,135 vehicles in March, including 4,402 domestically sold units and 5,733 exported automobiles (including CKD). Domestic sales and exports rose by 33.2 percent and 29.5 percent, respectively, from the previous month.
A total of 1,020 units of the Chairman W were sold, gaining strength from the sensational reaction it received from the domestic market. Chairman H also witnessed a rise in sales by 16.8 percent compared to the previous month to reach 708 units. The rationalization of the price through reasonable adjustments to the specifications greatly appealed to the customers.
SsangYong Motor thus recorded an outstanding performance in the large passenger vehicle market by posting a 185.1 percent increase compared to the previous month. This was made possible by advancing into a new market ? the flagship sedan market ? in addition to the Chairman H, a large passenger vehicle. A total of 459 units of the Actyon were sold, posting an increase of 50.5 percent; and a total of 549 units of the Rexton were sold, posting an increase of 43.3 percent.
SsangYong Motor also announced that it sold 5,733 units (including CKD) of vehicles in overseas markets, recording a whopping 29.5 percent rise from the previous month. A total of 1,005 units of the Actyon were sold which is a 95.5 percent increase from the previous month. Sales of the Actyon Sports increased 36.8 percent to reach 1,519 units. The Rexton and New Kyron recorded sales of 836 units and 1,138 units, recording an increase by 19.6 percent and 16.4 percent, respectively.
CEO and President Hyung-Tak Choi said, ?SsangYong Motor has made a great achievement by developing a new market with the release of Korea?s first flagship sedan, the Chairman W, which has even more to offer than the Chairman H, which has been leading the existing large passenger vehicle market.?
