Ssangyong Kyron: Trendsetting 4x4 crossover

Feb.06.2006
SsangYong’s model renewal has moved up a gear with the arrival of the Kyron X-Trail. This 4x4 crossover Kyron was designed by Ken Greenley, SsangYong Motor Company’s British creative director, to spearhead the company’s attack on the increasingly important Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) market around the world.

The Ssangyong Kyron is on display at Michael Attard Ltd showrooms at Mdina Road, Attard and National Road, Blata l-Bajda.

Kyron’s European styling is blended with proven Korean build quality and technology. Its sophisticated engineering, as shown by class-leading multilink rear suspension, is matched by an emphasis on safety. Kyron’s electronic control systems comprise anti-lock brakes with EBD, brake assistance, active rollover protection and hill descent control.

The Kyron was first shown as the SVR concept at the recent Seoul Motor Show.

The five-door, five-seater is powered by a new-generation common-rail diesel two-litre engine producing 141bhp and 310Nm of torque.

The price for the Kyron, which slots in below the Rexton 4x4 and the Rodius seven-seat MPV, starts from Lm14,800.

SsangYong plans to export 37,000 Kyrons a year in 2006, many of them headed for Europe where the company is on track for a massive sales boost to 40,000 sales a year.
