SUV sales increased by 72 percent year on year in the first half of 2005, according to data of the Union of the Importers of Automobiles in Bulgaria.
Indeed, local auto dealers sold 1,770 SUVs in the first six months of 2005, compared to 1,030 units a year earlier.
The compact segment was dominated by Russian manufacturer Niva with 514 units, followed by Toyota and Suzuki.
Toyota was the leader of the luxury class with 206 units, followed by SsangYong and VW.
