SsangYong Motor Company held a press conference at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show on March 3, 2015. Showcasing the European Premiere of Tivoli, the company’s all-new B-segment SUV, the company also introduced the eco-friendly concept car, Tivoli EVR.

SsangYong Motor Company displayed Tivoli, Tivoli EVR and current main models, including the New Korando, Rodius, and Rexton W, under the theme ‘New Start with Tivoli’ on the SsangYong booth at Hall 4.

CEO of SsangYong, Yoo-il Lee, said, “Tivoli is SsangYong’s first B-segment SUV, integrating SsangYong Motor’s 60 years of know-how and workmanship. It will become a key element in our drive to turn the business round, and also in our mid- to long-term development strategy. As the European market requirements have been considered from initial stage of development, we are confident that Tivoli will satisfy European customers with its style, safety and convenience.

With stylish design and class-leading features, Tivoli shows sales uptrends since its domestic launch in January. Demand for compact SUVs has been soaring globally, and SsangYong expects to gain brand awareness as a SUV specialist with launch of Tivoli and continue to increase its market share across countries.

In particular, the company set the sales goal of 17,000 units in Europe this year, up 60% from last year, and plans to promote various marketing activities including a test drive event to achieve the target.

Meanwhile, SsangYong presented the concept car, ‘Tivoli EVR(Electric Vehicle with Range extender)’. Embodying the rhythmical motion from SsangYong’s design language, ‘Nature-born 3 Motion’, ‘Tivoli EVR’ pursues Pure Dynamic Driving with electronic vehicle technology.

Carbon fiber has been applied to the side panel of the car body in order to lighten the weight, and furthermore, the front bumper is designed to minimize air resistance coefficient while carbon diffuser has been applied to the rear bumper.

‘Tivoli EVR’ is powered by 0.325 litre petrol engine, 95kW motor, and 25kWh lithium ion battery, which enables driving distance of up to 130km with EV mode and 500km with Range Extend mode. It delivers up to max. speed of 150km/h whereas CO₂emission level is low as 35g/km.

During the Motor Show, SsangYong shared the long-term product strategies and marketing plans with overseas distributors for expanding sales in global market.
