Ssangyong Motor Introduces Rexton W in Chinese market at Auto Shanghai 2013
• Ssangyong Motor to target Chinese high-end auto market with its major SUV model, the Rexton W.
• Seven models, including the new SUV-concept car SIV-1 and other popular models, to be
exhibited in a space with a total area of 716㎡.
• The company to expand its sales network and consolidate its reputation as a leading maker of
SUVs in China, with a sales target of 10,000 vehicles this year.
Ssangyong Motor(CEO Lee Yoo-il;www.kg-mobility.com), part of the USD15.9 billion Mahindra Group, officially introduced the Rexton W for Chinese consumers at the press day event for Auto Shanghai 2013 on April 20, marking the company’s first step toward entering the high-end Chinese auto market.
By displaying its premium sports utility vehicle Rexton W, at Auto Shanghai from April 20 through April 29, Ssangyong seeks to strengthen its profile and product lineup in China, which is the world’s largest auto market. The company will also display the mid-sized SUV concept SIV-1, which was unveiled at Geneva Motor Show in March, so as to provide the audience with a glimpse into the company’s vision of the future of automobiles.
The Ssangyong Rexton W is going to be made available with one of three power trains: namely, two types of diesel engines and a gasoline engine, from which drivers can choose according to their needs and preferences.
The e-XDi200, a diesel engine, is designed to produce maximum torque under a variety of practical conditions so that it performs at an optimal level in various urban environments. The XDi270 is another diesel engine whose safety and durability at high speed has been proven. The XGi3200 is the gasoline engine noted for its powerhouse performance, lowest-possible level of noise for an SUV, and driving safety.
